In high demand apparently

Friday, September 3rd, 2010

So I have 2 shorts this month and then I got another role in a feature at the same time. Oh my! Luckily it’s a small role and will only shoot 2 days, so I managed to squish everything into the same week. They both know I’m doing 2 things at once and have been really flexible.

Then on top of that I have a sort of short deadline at work. Looks like this coming week will be pretty intense. But I can handle it.

Off I go to a rehearsal now!

More good karma

Tuesday, August 31st, 2010

Got a call today from someone I auditioned for – who knows how long ago. I actually remembered it. They hadn’t found anyone for their short film yet, so they looked into their old files and found me. August is my month of old submissions paying off like a year later. Kind of fascinating. Just goes to show everything counts. Hopefully people don’t hold mediocre auditions against you for that long though.

Looks like we shoot next week, so that will be 2 shoots this month! Yay!

New short

Tuesday, August 31st, 2010

I’ll be working on another USC grad short this weekend. I play a normal human woman. There is a sentient computer in the short, but i did not go out for that role because she turns into a model, and I am not built like a model. I am more of a normal human woman. ;)

Propaganda 19

Monday, August 23rd, 2010

Saturday I got a last minute email for a shoot on Sunday. A little production company wanted to make some funny PSAs for the California Prop 19, the one to legalize marijuana. I wasn’t busy and it sounded fun, so I went up to their studio in Burbank for a few hours. It was fun and I knocked out about 7 of them in my session. A few could be deemed offensive for sensitive types, but it was all in good fun.

It was kind of neat that I was contacted basically out of the blue by a stranger. It goes to show that people you submit to really do hang onto headshots for future use.

I’ll post a link when they are up.

New Short in July

Wednesday, June 2nd, 2010

Scheduled a new short film for early July. I’ll be working with Peter and Donna (Cheerbleeders, Surrogate, etc.) again. I haven’t worked with them for a long time. I’m looking forward to it. It’s a short thriller based on a short story they optioned (or whatever it’s called when you get the rights to adapt something) called The Night Caller by Gary Raisor.

New project

Sunday, May 9th, 2010

I booked a new indie short this weekend. We’ll probably be shooting this coming weekend and the next. It’s a comedy they’ll be submitting to a contest – the winner gets money for a feature based on the short. I play an unfaithful girlfriend. Underwear potential! We haven’t decided on wardrobe, but it’s possible. We had a table read today and it made me laugh, so that’s always good just off the page.

And then sometimes things end up working out

Friday, April 23rd, 2010

So you know that callback I wrote about recently where I was sick and lame? Well, I get a call tonight from the casting director that the actor they had in the supporting role was not working out and they needed someone last minute so they thought of me. They switched the character from male to female and I show up tomorrow morning. Woohoo! I’m glad because I really liked the project. I don’t get to do motion capture, but I do get to be involved. I’m not sure if it will be both days this weekend, but it’s for sure tomorrow.

New Feature!

Tuesday, March 16th, 2010

I got word tonight that I booked that indie feature! Hooray! I’ll be a lead too! Not sure how much I can say about it, so I’ll just leave it at that until I know what I can say about the plot. They said it’ll be about a 2 week shoot in May or June in Los Angeles. I think it’s going to be a lot of fun. I’m a busy bee this spring!

New Bookings

Wednesday, March 10th, 2010

Looks like I got two shorts coming up. One this month where I play a male-impersonator/ ventriloquist! How rad is that? I’m so excited. I have a fitting this week and rehearsal next week. Woo!

Then I have one in early May where I play a drug dealer. It’s an Alice in Wonderland inspired story, so I’m like the Mad Hatter. Should be fun.

Then this weekend I’m doing some modeling with Chris Malcolm again. Those are always fun. I’ll post copies when I get them.

I also have a final callback on an indie feature this weekend. We did callbacks last week where they paired up actors to be married couples and they want to pair me with another actor this weekend. Hopefully it will go as well as the last 2 sessions. We did it all improv, which I usually find really intimidating, but I hit a really good stride with the character. Whether I get it or not it’s been really good having that experience. Dramatic improv is a lot different than comedy, but at least I’m getting much more comfortable with it.

Oh, and Leading Ladies is through with color.  It’s all onto sound and titles and stuff.  Woo!  I’m hoping they will come visit soon so we can see it!  They think April could work and it should be done then.  Yay!
