Seeing my name on a menu

Thursday, September 29th, 2011

As if having a DVD released isn’t exciting enough, I can’t help but feel a little giddy seeing my name on a cable menu.  I actually have another service, but my friend sent me this snapshot.  :)

The awesome new scene in Delivery

Thursday, September 29th, 2011

Sunday we shot our ‘Poltergeist’ scene.  I’m cooking and there is a knock at the door.  It keeps knocking when I walk away and on the third time I am looking at the door, but don’t open it.  Then when I turn around the kitchen is all undone and COVERED in tomato sauce!  Like COVERED.  It even got behind the fridge.  And Nick (?) was worried 4 cups would be too little.

We could only really do one take since it took forever to clean, and when we did it, some splattered onto my face, so I had to hurry and wipe it off while the camera was facing the door.  Not sure if it ended up adding extra time or not, but I needed to be sure you couldn’t see anything on me.  Then I turn around and react.  I went with confused shock as my reaction.  There was talk of trying to shoot it again, maybe just up until the whip-pan to the kitchen, so they could get a bigger reaction.  We never ended up doing that though.

I feel a little bad about that.  I like to try and give a director exactly what they want.  I think it’s still going to be a killer scene.  If we had a clean-up crew we could have gone again, but I think it’s going to work the way it is.

Delivery re-shoot weekend

Thursday, September 29th, 2011

Bryan and Adam decided to rewrite 2 scenes and add some more small ones after seeing the rough cut.  Of course the 2 scenes they rewrote were two of the most intense scenes in the film, so I knew it was going to be a heavy weekend.

Our call time was 12:30, which worked out great because I got an audition that morning even though I had booked out before.  Guess it was a good call on my agent to submit me anyway.

A lot of what we were doing were personal video diary segments where we have a little flipcam and are talking to the camera as part of the reality show.  After I did one of those we did one of the re-shoot scenes with some of the other characters.  We ran through it a bunch of times to try different takes on it.  Plus we’re improvising dialogue so there are a lot of ways to do it.  They had 2 cameras  so they can edit it pretty easily.  It felt really good though and I think it will work better than the original scene.

Later we re-shot a bunch of stuff in the very end of the film, which is the most intense scene for everyone.  This time, obviously we all knew what would happen and it was more about getting it to feel real.  It wasn’t drastically different than the original, but made a few key changes.

There was one more flipcam they wanted to do, but we wouldn’t be able to reset my makeup, etc. without it taking forever, so they cut it.  Then we got out at 11:30!  Under 12 hours! Nice!

Sunday was also a 12:30 call time.  that day was all either flipcam or ‘surveillance’ footage.  We did a pretty awesome new scene that I can’t talk about.  I guess there isn’t a whole lot I can talk about in detail, but it went smoothly and we finished at 11:30 again!  Yay!

Oh- Both Adam and Danny’s babies showed up to set, but at different times, so we couldn’t have a baby fight.  But man are those cute babies.  Speaking of Babies, my sister gave birth to a baby on Saturday (in China!) so it was a super baby-filled weekend!

Review

“It will be a nice notch on the resumes of Vail and Schwimmer — we should be seeing much more of both of them in future. ”

Thanks mystery author!  I certainly hope so!

Interview from Erika for Leading Ladies – The Advocate

Saturday, September 17th, 2011

Great interview with Erika on the verge of giving birth to an actual baby as well and the metaphorical birth of the Leading Ladies DVD release.  A lot of discussion about labels and such in the LGBT community.

PS- The baby was born after this interview was taken.  It was a boy!

Grindhouse booking

Tuesday, September 13th, 2011

Just booked a short trailer for a delightful Grindhouse-style flick.  I get to be the heroine! Rad!  We are shooting at the beginning of October. Should be really funny and a fun shoot.

Places you’ll find Leading Ladies in only a week!

Netflix

Blockbuster

Itunes

Amazon

Wolfe

And probably others.  If you want to buy it, I would suggest using the Wolfe link since I think the filmmakers will get the biggest cut from that link.  See, if they make money off this movie, then they can make more movies!  Yay!
