This evening I helped out some friends who needed a reader for an audition. It was from a show I’d seen them perform, so I was familiar with it. I got to channel the actress impersonating a musician. It was pretty fun.
I like to do that sort of thing every so often to remind myself that no matter how good you are, you might not get a role. They didn’t bring in a ton of dudes, but each one was unique and good. They were all referred by trusted people, so it was more like a call back in terms of quality.
But even being good didn’t guarantee that they were right for the role. And it’s a bummer, but that’s how it is. I think there was one guy who we all really loved, but wasn’t really right for the character. Thems the brakes.
So I just have to tell myself that when I don’t get something: I might be good, but I might not be that character for them.
